Spring on the Trail event set for May 11

Plans and fundraising are underway for the Spring on the Trail (SOTT) 2013 event, to be held May 11, encouraging people to bike, hike, run or walk the Kissing Bridge Trailway.

Seven communities along the trail will participate with family activities, events and prizes, including Guelph, Ariss, West Montrose, Elmira, Wallenstein, Linwood and Millbank.

The event is to promote and engage others in a healthy lifestyle and while raising funds to help develop the trail route into a notable tourist attraction.

When finished it will include 127 km of family-safe trailway, with a scenic natural corridor running from Guelph to Lake Huron,  making it one of Canada’s most unique multi”use naturalized trailways.

The event is open to individuals, groups and teams. For the competitive participants, there is a 90km Cycle Challenge or the Ariss 5km Running Race or the Amazing Race for Kids.

Details for all events can be found on www.springonthetrail.ca.

For those unable to participate, the opportunity to purchase a SOTT 2013 passport allows for a $20 tax deductible donation, plus discounts and specials from local participating businesses. Online registration is open to all at www.springonthetrail.ca.
