Soiree benefit to be held for refugees

Under the Same Sky is presenting a Soiree Benefit for Refugees on Jan. 24 from 4:30 to 7:30pm at the Elora Brewery.

Join the group for a greet and mingle and to hear special guests speaking about the sponsorship experience (speakers will begin at 5pm).

The Eclectic Vinyl Orchestra (www.eclecticvo.com), who play high energy swing, jump blues and dancehall standards from the 20s to the 50s, will provide music throughout the event.

The group is hoping to continue to raise funds with their silent auction. In addition, the evening will see the roll-out of the group’s new “Hundred Hearts Campaign” in which individuals can purchase a locally made pottery heart in recognition of a special $100 donation.

Under the Same Sky is a group of local citizens who are raising awareness regarding the plight of individuals affected by the international refugee crisis and are raising funds to bring refugee families to Centre Wellington. According group member, Shona Litchfield, “the positive response and generosity from the local community has been truly overwhelming. We are making steady progress towards meeting our financial goals and we hope to welcome our first family to Fergus – Elora in the next few months.”

Everyone is welcome to this event on Jan. 24 and admission is free.
