Sensational Elora to run Oct. 2 to 12 this year

Plans are underway for the second annual Sensational Elora: A Festival of the Senses (winner of the 2009 Awards of Excellence).

This year, the 10 day event will run from Oct. 3 to the 12, and once again focus the senses with a medley of food, film, dance, drama, music and entertainment. There will be something for everyone, for every sense, for every taste.

The opening gala, A Celebration of the Senses, on Oct. 3, will see guests offered the finest from local and visiting chefs, to the final Thanksgiving Day Sensational Soup Off Oct. 12, which will be a soup competition of the highest caliber, food will be the feature.

The Film on a Plate series pairs movies about food (think Big Night, and Chocolat) with matching food, drink, and music.

A Movable Feast features different local restaurants offering one course each to a group of traveling diners who are led from place to place by actors in historical character.

And the Elora Empty Bowls Project will feature "a scoop of soup” from one of dozens of participating restaurants.

In addition, there will be gourmet cooking classes, wine and scotch tasting, and a Saturday Farmers Market where visitors can shop to their heart’s and stomach’s content.
