Sears launches Fill a Fridge campaign for food bank

The Fergus Hometown Sears store is pleased to announce A Fill a Fridge campaign to support  the Centre Wellington Food Bank.

Customers who bring in a suggested donation for the Food Bank to the store will receive an entry ballot to win a Kenmore 18.8 cubic foot topmount refrigerator. The Campaign began May 9 and runs through May 28, with the winner being drawn on May 29  at the conclusion of the Food Cycle Ride.

A list of Urgently Needed Food can be found on centrewellingtonfoodbank.org and in the Hometown Sears Fergus store.

The store is located at 725 St. Andrew Street West and is owned and operated by Stephen Weber.

People can also help support the Centre Wellington Food Bank and promote the use of locally produced food by supporting the Food Cycle Ride. It is not a race. It is an opportunity to ride the Wellington County and Waterloo Region roads on a course supported with marked routes.

“We are personally committed to supporting our community and giving back to the people that patronize our local businesses,” said. Weber.  “I will be participating in the Food Cycle Ride and my wife will be volunteering. We encourage everyone to pledge support if they can’t ride, or make donations of food, money or time.”

Proceeds from the ride will support the food bank’s programs. Priority for the funds will be given to buying food from local farmers and using the food bank’s community kitchen to prepare those foods to add to food baskets.

For more details about the Centre Wellington Food Bank or the Food Cycle Ride visit www.centrewellingtonfoodbank.org or www.foodcycleride.ca.  For details about the Fill a Fridge campaign visit the Hometown Sears Fergus store.

Entries are limited to one per person per day with an eligible food bank donation, with complete details and rules available in store.

The store is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 6pm and Saturday from 10am to 5pm.
