Rotary club presents new trades bursary

Members and guests of the Clifford Rotary Club gathered for a special presentation at their weekly meeting held on April 18 at Gramma Jo’s Restaurant.

The club announced a new $500 bursary and the first recipient, Zachary Sullivan was presented with a cheque by Vic Palmer.

Sullivan is a Grade 12 student at Norwell District Secondary School in Palmerston. He is currently enrolled in the co-op auto mechanics program. Upon graduation, he hopes to apprentice at a local shop and will put the bursary towards purchasing the tools of his trade.

At a previous meeting, Tyson Smith, a teacher from Norwell talked about the co-op programs and the assistance offered to the students. Smith was also on hand for the presentation.

The Rotary Club intends to continue the trades bursary on an annual basis to benefit a student in a trades career.

The club meets every Tuesday evening. For information check out their website or on facebook.
