Rotary club lights up Riverside Park to create magical winter wonderland

The Rotary Club of Guelph has transformed Riverside Park into a magical winter wonderland, with the annual Sparkles in the Park.

Festive Nativity displays have been created by local businesses and individual community members alike, sure to dazzle onlookers who experience the charm, good humour and celebration of the season.

The park is lit up with more than 30,000 lights all strung by Rotary volunteers.

Visitors can stay warm in their cars driving through the park enjoying the lights, or can park the car for free to take a stroll through the park.

Sparkles in the Park is held nightly from Dec. 15 to 31, from 5:30pm to 9:30pm.

The festivities end with the fireworks on New Year’s Eve at the Family Celebration in the Park at 8pm, Dec. 31.

Free shuttle buses are available on New Year’s Eve from the Walmart parking lot here and back throughout the evening.

The park’s carousel will be operating for free rides for the children on the following dates: Dec. 15 and  Dec. 21 until Dec. 30,  from  6pm to 8:30pm. On  New Year’s Eve, the carousel will be open from 5:30pm to 9pm.

Donations are greatly appreciated, with all proceeds benefiting local Rotary projects.

Sparkles in the Park is held in partnership with The Rotary Club of Guelph and The City of Guelph, Magic 106.1 FM, CJOY 1460 AM, Rogers TV, Skyjack and many other supporters.
