FERGUS - Every year around Jan. 25, the famous Scottish Poet Robbie Burns’ life is celebrated. The Fergus Pipe Band hosted an event for a crowd of about 180 people on Jan. 27 at the Fergus Legion. Sue Baker, a band piper and the band’s manager, took the audience through the life of Burns while the band started the evening off with a number of new pieces. Pipe Major Mark Cripps led the band in performing. The Address to Haggis was given and toasts to the “lassies and laddies.” The evening ended with a number of Scottish dances instructed by a group from Kitchener, Travel Worn & Friends.
