Road-side cleanup - The 2019 Fergus Lions Club spring clean up of Highway 6 south in Fergus, from Canadian Tire to the 4th Line, took place on June 1. Grade 7 and 8 students from Maranatha Christian School in Fergus, accompanied by their principal and teachers joined the Lions members. The weather offered sunny skies for the event. A collection of trash was picked up, bagged, and left at a collection site for Emcon Highways Management to pick up on June 3. “It was refreshing to see that the driving public took the time to drive slowly when encountering the four collection teams, and several honked their thanks and gave the kids the ‘thumbs up’ for a job well done,” officials said. “Our thanks to Freshco, Tim Horton’s (Tower Street) and McDonald’s restaurant for their support by providing snacks and bottled water at the end of the collection.”
