Reuben Hits 90

Amidst a flurry of excitement and amongst family, friends, and well-wishers, Reuben Oehm celebrated his 90th birthday on Sunday, July 6 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Clifford.

Reuben’s life on the farm, his 40 years with Rotary, his favourite pastimes, and significant events were all revealed during a presentation prepared by his niece Lynda Schmidt. Reuben has a tradition of joining his friends for coffee each day and was bestowed with the ultimate gift for a man who has everything and is not wanting for more – a gift certificate good for coffee at the Redwood restaurant until the end of May 2009.

Numerous family & friends from as far away as Arkansas & Michigan joined him for dinner and oodles more joined him for sweets and treats at the Come & Go Tea. He was presented with congratulatory messages from all levels of the government and even received a Longevity Award along with over 65 birthday cards.

Best wishes on your 90th birthday. Enjoy your lawn swing and keep buying those green bananas – a sure sign of faith that your good health will prevail and you will have ample time for those bananas to ripen and enjoy.

Reuben Oehm was overwhelmed with the celebration in honour of his 90th birthday on July 6th and will continue to enjoy reading all the cards now draped along the wall in the dining room of his home in Clifford.
