Responsible boating urged
The boating season has arrived and Wellington County OPP are offering marine safety tips:
- always wear a personal floatation device (PFD);
- ensure the PFD fits snug and securely;
- operate your watercraft at safe speeds at all times, especially in crowded areas;
- be courteous of others using the water and obey all boating rules;
- be cautious of swimmers and other marine operators, and always have a spotter for water-skiers and tube riders;
- stay alert; and
- avoid alcohol as alcohol and watercrafts don’t mix.
