Recreation facility to be ready in fall

Puslinch officials are hopeful the new multi-use recreational facility in Aberfoyle will be ready by the fall.

Consultant Hans Groh, of Gamsby and Mannerow, told council recently that plans for the building are progressing quite well. The layout and floor plan are being “fine tuned,”  he said, so the township can proceed with tenders for the design and construction.

Groh said he expects to advertise in early January, with tenders closing by February, at which time he would return to council with a recommendation. He hopes construction will begin in late April and the facility will be completed by the end of September.

Councillor Dick Visser said he hopes the $2.1-million estimate is the maximum that will be spent on the building, especially considering the project started out as a $500,000 venture.

Mayor Brad Whitcombe said the facility committee is mindful of the budget.
