Queen comes to museum

May 18 is International Museum Day.

To celebrate the Wellington County Museum is hosting a Royal Engagement. Queen Victoria will make a guest appearance and speak about the events surrounding her Diamond Jubilee. She will join visitors for tea in the Victorian garden, where ladies in waiting will present the public to her.

The event should prove to be a charming afternoon.  Hats and gloves are encouraged, but not mandatory. Admission is $2 a person; and organizers ask people register in advance.

The event is in Aboyne Hall at 2pm.

Since 1977, International Museum Day is held worldwide near Queen Victoria’s birthday. International Museum Day aims to increase public awareness of the role of museums.
