Puslinch reviews draft map of cycling network

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is seeking feedback on a province-wide cycling network.

Correspondence from Wellington County manager of development planning Sarah Wilhelm was reviewed by Puslinch councillors on May 3.

The MTO’s draft province-wide cycling network was developed based on input received so far, as well as  quantitative evaluation and qualitative analysis, Wilhelm explained.

“As there are both on-road and off-road routes, you may wish to have the routes in your municipality reviewed by roads staff, recreation staff or committees, and local trail groups,” Wilhelm wrote.

The routes also make extensive use of existing walking/cycling trails.

Puslinch Mayor Dennis Lever said after looking at the proposed map online the route appears to come across Gore Road and up to Maddaugh.

Councillor John Sepulis noted there was a linkage across Wellington Road 34 in the Maltby area.

He suggested council ask the director of public works to provide comments on either the use of Laird or Maltby Roads.

Lever anticipated the involvement of Wilhelm because of her involvement in the project thus far and with Wellington County’s active transportation Plan.
