GUELPH – A 75-year-old Puslinch man has pleaded guilty in Guelph court to sexual assault.

Richard Reid was twice charged with sexual assault last year.

One charge stems from allegations of sex offences in 2024-25, and the other from alleged offences in 2003.

Puslinch man again charged with sexual assault
A Puslinch man charged with sexual assault this summer is now facing a second sexual assault charge related to an incident over 20 years ago. On July 24, police arrested and charged Richard Reid, 74, of Puslinch. Wellington County OPP officials say police opened an investigation on Feb. 5

He answered to one of those charges on July 23, stemming from sexual offences against a woman he employed between August 2024 and toward the end of January 2025.

Prosecutor Joshua White said Reid’s offences against the woman, who cannot be named because of a publication ban, include masturbation, oral sex and an instance of attempted penetration.

“There was no consent to the sexual activity pursuant to his position of authority,” White told court.

Reid’s defence lawyer, Dean Paquette, requested a pre-sentence report to provide the judge insight into Reid’s background and rehabilitation potential.

The report is expected to take eight weeks to process, and the case isn’t likely to return to court until at least September.

The other sexual assault charge remains before the courts.
