Puslinch considers 5% increase to rental rates

Recent minutes of the Puslinch recreation committee discussed proposed rental fee increases for the Puslinch Community Centre and Optimist Recreation Centre.

The decision at the committee level was to implement an overall 5% increase at the community centre.

Ball diamond rental fees have also been changed.

No discussion of the rental fees for the rink and the gym were held that evening, however, the fees included a 5% across-the-board increase.

Councillor Wayne Stokley asked for clarification on the 5% increase.

He said it appeared there was no discussion regarding rates for the ice rink or gym.

“I think the percentage was up 5% as well.”

Councillor Jerry Schmidt said he believed the increases were “across the board.”

Brenda Law, filling in as deputy clerk, stated the items were included.

She added that the numbers were also rounded off and a proper bylaw would still be needed to implement the changes.

Mayor Dennis Lever said there were questions a few years ago about changing fees after certain groups had already held registrations for the year – based on the previous year fees.

Lever asked if that would happen again.

Law said the change only affects facility rentals.
