Puslinch amends elections signs bylaw

Council here has amended its bylaw to regulate the installation and location of election signs and advertising.

Under the Municipal Act, the township is authorized to pass bylaws regarding election signs. On April 4, Puslinch amended its bylaw to revise the definition of “election sign” to mean any sign promoting, opposing or taking a position with respect to:

– any candidate or political party in an election under the Canada Elections Act, the Election Act (Ontario), or the Municipal Elections Act, 1996

– an issue associated with a person or political party in an election under the acts;

– a question, law or by-law submitted to the electors under the acts; and

– any sign on a vehicle used for the above purposes.
