Public meet for concept plan for Wellington Place is set for May 25

Wellington County is hosting an open house to discuss the Wellington Place concept plan project.

It is on May 25 from 4 to 8pm in Aboyne Hall at the County Museum and Archives, at 0536 County Road 18, between Elora and Fergus.

A presentation outlining the project will be made at 6:30pm.

The plan deals with the entire property. It currently includes:

– museum and archives;

– library administration (Aboyne Branch);

– Wellington Terrace Long Term Care Home;

– Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health;

– Crime Stoppers of Guelph-Wellington; and

– the Centre Wellington Ontario Provincial Police Operations Centre.

Groves Hospital has purchased a portion of the Trask farm for a future hospital and health services site.

The project provides the opportunity to develop a long term preservation and enhancement plan for existing cultural and natural heritage infrastructure, while also creating an institutional campus to serve the needs of the county.

The concept plan, which will incorporate public comment, is being developed by a team of consultants including MacNaughton Hermsen Britton Clarkson Planning Limited and the Ventin Group Ltd. Architects.

Members of the public are invited to the open house to learn more about the draft concept plan, ask questions, and provide feedback.
