Province tightens ticket selling regulations

Anyone who ever wanted to buy a ticket to a  much anticipated concert and found the tickets available were much higher than the advertised price will be pleased the province has moved to change ticket sales practices.

The main sellers were often selling blocks of tickets to subsidiary companies who, in turn, sold them at jacked-up prices to ticket buyers.

A bill passed last week by the Ontario Legislature amends the Ticket Speculation Act to ban that practice.

Violators will be subject to an individual fine of up to $5,000 and a corporate fine of up to $50,000.
