Wellington County OPP received a report that on July 14, a person returned to their vehicle on Watson Road South, near Stone Road, following a hike to find their car window smashed and a purse stolen.

“Police would like to remind residents to lock their vehicles,” police stated in a press release. “Leave valuables at home or place them in the trunk ... so they are safely out of sight of would-be criminals.

“People using the walking trails are requested to note any suspicious persons near trail entry points and to take note of any associated vehicles and licence plates. Should you encounter this please contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.”
