MOUNT FOREST – A Wellington North woman is facing 11 charges, including arson, assault and assaulting a police officer, following a domestic incident here last week.
Wellington County OPP officials say police responded to a disturbance in Mount Forest on Nov. 16 at about 5:30pm.
“There were no reported injuries as a result of this incident,” police stated in Nov. 18 press release.
A 45-year-old Wellington North woman was charged with arson (damage to property), spousal assault, uttering threats, mischief, three counts of spousal assault with a weapon and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
“As the accused was being taken into custody, they became combative with police … [an] officer sustained minor injuries as a result of this incident,” states the OPP release.
The woman was further charged with assaulting a peace officer and mischief.
She was held in custody for a bail hearing.
Partner violence
WELLINGTON COUNTY – Local police continue to lay intimate partner violence charges across the county.
Those arrested include:
– a 45-year-old from Elora, who was charged with two counts of assault in relation to an incident in Centre Wellington on Nov. 18; and
– a 25-year-old from Erin, who was charged with assault causing bodily harm (choke, suffocate or strangle), obstructing a peace officer and mischief (domestic), in relation to an incident in Erin on Nov. 20.
The accused individuals are to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
Dump truck hits wires
MOUNT FOREST – An Ayton driver has been charged with careless driving after a dump truck collided with hydro wires last week.
Wellington County OPP officials say a commercial vehicle crashed into overhead hydro wires on Wellington Street East in Mount Forest on Nov. 18 at about 4:30pm.
“The driver did not sustain any injuries,” police stated.
A 42-year-old driver from Ayton was charged with careless driving and is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
