Police beat: Partner violence

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Local police continue to lay intimate partner violence charges across the county.

Those arrested include a 31-year-old from Fergus, who was charged with forcible confinement, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and two counts of failing to comply with a release order, in relation to an incident in Fergus on Nov. 11.

The accused is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.

Commercial vehicle charges

FERGUS – A Guelph business has been charged with several offences following a commercial vehicle inspection in Fergus.

On Nov. 13 at about  7:45am, West Region OPP officers pulled over a commercial vehicle on 2nd Line in Fergus.

Police say that after an inspection of the vehicle, a Guelph business was charged with five infractions, including failing to ensure performance standards are met, overweight vehicle, improper tires and two for failing to complete daily inspections.

The driver of the vehicle was given a warning for driving a commercial vehicle with a major defect.

The accused business is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
