Driver ditches car after leaving roadway

PUSLINCH – A Hamilton driver faces several charges after a vehicle was abandoned after police say it “left the roadway.”

On Oct. 8 at about 1pm, a Wellington County OPP officer came across an apparent collision on Watson Road South in Puslinch.

Police say a black sedan “had left the roadway and the occupants had left.”

As 20-year-old driver from Hamilton was charged with failing to remain at the scene of a collision, failing to report an accident and driving without a licence. The defendant is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.

Speeding, suspension

CENTRE WELLINGTON  – On Oct. 10 at about 1:45pm,  a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 7 in former Pilkington township.

Police say the officer observed a grey SUV that appeared to be travelling above the posted 80km/h speed limit.

A 39-year-old driver from Hamilton was charged with speeding, driving while suspended and driving in contravention of conditions.

The defendant is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.

Driving while suspended

CENTRE WELLINGTON – On Oct. 7 at about 1:30pm, a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 26 here.

Police say the officer saw a black sedan that appeared to be travelling above the posted 80km/h speed limit.

A 34-year-old driver from White River was charged with driving while suspended and speeding and is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.

Commercial charges

GUELPH/ERAMOSA – On Oct. 6 at about 7pm a Wellington County OPP officer initiated a traffic stop of a commercial motor vehicle on Highway 6, north of Guelph.

A 42-year-old driver from Cambridge was charged with driving an unsafe vehicle, failing to display an inspection sticker, driving without valid permits, failing to surrender a daily log inspection report, failing to surrender a commercial vehicle operator’s registration (CVOR) certificate, failing to have an insurance card and two counts of driving while suspended. The defendant is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
