Palmerston Fair features Grains, Plains and Trains

Grains, Plains and Trains is the theme of the 2017 Palmerston Fair, Aug. 25 to 27.

The fair officially opens at 7:30pm on Aug. 23 with the Ambassador of the Fair competition at the local community centre.

Parade participants will assemble at Lawrence Park at 5:45pm on Friday night, Aug. 25, for the parade, which begins at 6:30pm. Following the parade the arena opens to the public. There will be bouncy castles  and a maze on site.

Displays, exhibits and the popular Taste of Minto event, featuring a great selection of local food, are all on the Friday night schedule, along with Kids Zone activities.

Saturday events begin with a farmers breakfast at the community centre from 8 to 10am.  

Other Aug. 26 events include a tailgate garage sale, reptile show, farmers market, pet show, Tiny Tyke Dairy Show, 4-H Dairy Show, kids’ pedal tractor pull, Monster Machines, a Birds of Prey Show and a demonstration by Dinkelmann Grappling Arts.

The Auction of Champions will be held at 3pm in the community centre and a corn roast dinner hosted by the Palmerston Farmers Market will be held in the community centre at 6pm. A corn eating contest will be part of the fun.

Saturday wraps up with a Box Car Movie Night in the Grant’s Service Centre parking lot.

Sunday begins with a community church service at 10am, followed by events such as a Teddy Bear Picnic, dabber bingo, a dog agility show and pig races. A roast beef dinner hosted by the Palmerston Marlins from 4 to 6:30pm wraps things up.
