OPP sergeant’s wife faces additional charges, including extortion

Charges related to sexual assault allegations involving 21-year Wellington OPP veteran

WELLINGTON COUNTY – The wife of an OPP sergeant previously charged with obstructing justice now faces three more charges, including extortion.

Brenda Dolderman, 53, was charged in April with three counts of obstructing justice.

The charges were connected to a three-month investigation by the OPP Professional Standards Bureau involving a 21-year veteran of the Wellington County OPP.

Sergeant Mike Dolderman was charged with five counts of sexual assault and five counts of breach of trust and suspended from duty.

On Aug. 27, Brenda Dolderman was additionally charged with extortion, intimidation of a justice system participant and attempted obstruction of justice.

She is to appear in Guelph court on Oct. 6.

Police officials have repeatedly denied requests for more information about the alleged sexual assaults involving Mike Dolderman, including whether or not he was on duty at the time.

In February, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) confirmed it was investigating seven alleged sexual assaults involving one Wellington OPP officer that were reported by the OPP to the SIU between Jan. 24 and 29.

Officials with the OPP and SIU later told the Advertiser the OPP’s Professional Standards Bureau had taken over the investigations.
