Open house planned at innovative dairy facility

A grand opening for a new state-of-the-art livestock research and innovation centre dairy facility is planned for May 28.

The centre, located at 6185 2nd Line East, will house 240 free stall dairy cows in eight groups for replication of research trials and 24 cows in tie-stalls for projects where more research instrumentation and cow monitoring is required.

A rotary milking parlour and a voluntary milking robot simulate the differing requirements of the dairy industry.

The open house runs from  11am to 4pm on May 28 which lunch served between noon and 2pm.

The open house, to be held rain or shine, will provide an opportunity to explore the facility and learn about technical advancements and research in the industry. Anyone attending is advised to wear appropriate footwear.
