Not So Grand Players looking for talent

It’s time for the Not So Grand Players to roll up their sleeves and get set to bring more music and laughter to the Fergus Grand Theatre stage … and that’s exactly what they intend to do.

Plans are in motion to bring back to life a presentation of Pack Up Your Troubles, a touching war time musical comedy, written by Florence Arkell and Connie Dickinson and suitable for families.

The plot deals with a group of devoted church ladies, the Methodist Maidens of Mercy, sent to provide comfort to the poor soldiers in Company D.  Unfortunately, the soldiers were expecting Bob Hope and Betty Grable.

Although this show is not on stage until the middle of November, auditions are being held June 21 and 23 at 7pm at Heritage River Retirement Home (the old location of Wellington Terrace).

This will give the director enough time to cast the necessary 16 roles (eight men and eight women), utilizing as many local actors as possible.

Rehearsals will begin in September. As always, all profits from this show will go back into the community.

For information regarding auditions, contact Dickinson at 519-846-9950. Those who know of Canadian army uniforms that could be borrowed should also contact Dickinson. Uniforms would be treated with a great deal of care.
