Nominations sought for Acccessibility “˜Roll Model”™ Awards

Roll a Mile has announced the Accessibility “Roll Model” Awards to recognize, acknowledge and reward outstanding achievements in accessibility, accommodation, and awareness and is calling for nominations of businesses and individuals that have demonstrated outstanding achievements in these areas.

“Accessibility is more than just the physical structure of a business,” explains Roll a Mile owner Donna Jack. “It includes everything from the attitude  awareness of front-line staff and their ability to provide adaptive, accessible, barrier-free services to the accessibility of a website for persons with disabilities.

“Through the establishment of the Roll Model Awards we are looking to acknowledge, celebrate and honour the leaders who strengthen our communities with the social, political, and economic benefits and opportunities afforded by accessibility, inclusion and diversity.”

Nominations of any individual, business or organization that has improved accessibility or awareness in areas such as customer service, information and communication, employment equity, built environment and transportation, will be welcomed for these awards.

Businesses holding a valid Ontario business license, or individual residing in Ontario, are eligible to be nominated.

Nominations will close at 4:30pm on June 15. All nominators will be entered into a draw for a dinner for two. The draw will be held on June 15.

The winners of the accessibility awards will be announced Aug. 15. For more information or to nominate a business, visit www.rollamile.com/awards/nominate.
