Nominations open for Awards of Excellence

Nominations are now open for the Centre Wellington Community and Business Awards of Excellence taking place during a gala on May 16 at the Fergus Grand Theatre.

The organizing committee is shaking things up with a new venue, reduced ticket price and sponsorship opportunities.

The theme is “Centre Wellington celebrating in Grand Style.” The event will include a reception with hors d’oeuvres and refreshments.

Last year the awards committee made significant changes to the nomination process to make it easier to nominate in one or more categories.

There are two nomination groups – one can be self nominated or nominated by someone else – then the nominee is contacted to complete the nomination form.

The Centre Wellington  Chamber of Commerce (CWCC) will also recognize businesses that have reached 25 and 40-year milestones.   Nomination forms are available online at http://www.cwchamber.ca.

Group one includes nominations for a business, individual or organization in the following categories: agriculture/agri-business; business beautification; business or home-based business (under 15 employees); business of the year (15 or more employees); community award of merit; cultural, arts, tourism impact award; environmental excellence; skilled trades; or youth entrepreneur.

Deadline for nominations is Feb. 8. Group two categories include: citizen of the year, youth citizen of the year, customer service excellence and corporate citizen of the year.

Completed nomination packages must be received by March 1 at 4pm at the chamber office.

In both categories, the  adjudication committee bases decisions on the content in the nomination package only. Photos, letters of support, information on other awards, etc., are to be included.

To submit a nomination go to http://www.cwchamber.ca and fill the nomination form online. Some nominations require letters of support or photos.

The pdf forms can be printed, completed and returned to the CWCC office,   or drop by the office at 400 Tower Street South in Fergus between 10am and 4pm to pick up forms.

For more information or to be a part of the event,  contact Roberta Scarrow, manager of the CWCC, at 519-843-5140.
