No objections to temporary liquor licence extension

Council has no objections to an extended licensed area for the Grand River Raceway’s Industry Day on Aug.  6.

Correspondence from raceway marketing manager Kelly Spencer noted the annual event features the $300,000 Battle of Waterloo and the $150,000 Battle of the Belles.

Post time is 1:30pm and the event wraps up around 6pm

With an event which draws up to 5,000 visitors across the province, the raceway applied to temporarily extend its liquor licence to provide an expanded venue and have two beer tents open during the event.

Moments later, council agreed that it had no objections to the extended licensed area for the Grand River Truck and Tractor Pull on Aug. 25.

Spencer had noted that event draws in upwards of 2,000 visitors each year and runs from 4pm to midnight.

For that event, the licensed area would be near the track while the event takes place.

Following council’s motion to voice no objections to the two upcoming events, Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj commented “The summer goes by so fast.”
