Ninth annual Art in the Yard draws out the crowds over the weekend

Art in the Yard had its moment in the sun last weekend as the event returned for its ninth year.

The grounds of the Elora Centre for the Arts was packed with artists from across Ontario and quite a few local artists as well.

Art included fine painting, jewellery, photography, ceramics, and woodwork.

Artists and local community groups were on hand to answer questions as well.

Throughout the day there were live musical performances with room to relax in a bit of shade, or a chance to enjoy refreshments as well.

Participants had the chance engage in a historical tour of the centre’s grounds as well as see the artwork of the Harris Collective and Brandon Vickerd’s exhibition in the Minarovich Gallery.

With the Elora Farmers Market across the road, the event seemed to draw an even larger crowd this year.

This year, a Heritage Canada Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage grant is supporting the event and the Grand River Agriculture Society is sponsoring the children’s area, a supervised place for children of all ages to hang out and contribute to a community art project or work on solo pieces.
