Newcomer reception planned in Clifford by municipality, revitalization group

CLIFFORD – The Town of Minto and the Clifford Downtown Revitalization Committee are hosting what organizers hope is the first of many Newcomers’ Welcome Receptions in Clifford on May 7.

The reception will take place at the Clifford Community Hall from 6:30 to  8pm. The family-friendly event will provide newcomers to Clifford and area the opportunity to meet each other and some of the locals, as well as learn more about the community. Attendees may also enjoy some local food and beverages and take home a well-stocked welcome package thanks to contributions from local businesses and groups.

A similar event was held in Palmerston in 2018 and, after the success of that event, the Clifford community decided to host a welcome reception as well, organizers note in a press release.

The Clifford Downtown Revitalization Committee took responsibility for the project led by Vic Palmer who is the volunteer Clifford Welcome Program coordinator.

The purpose of this event is to allow residents who have moved to Minto within the past year or so to meet fellow newcomers to Clifford and to discover more about the community.

There will also be an opportunity to meet and have questions answered by Minto Mayor George Bridge and various council members, along with economic development staff and Clifford business owners and community groups.

To RSVP in advance or for more details connect with business and economic manager Belinda Wick-Graham at 519-338-2511 ext. 241 or belinda@town.minto.on.ca.
