Guelph-Eramosa council supported the constuction of a new wireless communication tower at the July 13 meeting.

The structure will be installed on 5126 Wellington Road 29. Since it is private property and communications towers are under federal jurisdiction the municipality doesn’t have decision-making authority, but also didn’t object.

“Frankly we need these,” Guelph-Eramosa Mayor Chris White told the Advertiser. “There’s a lot of concern about high speed internet and places like Eden Mills are frankly dead zones for phones and internet.

“In this day and age we need to be able to get high speed internet to all of our citizens and this will help to improve that.”
