Councillors here have approved appointments for the Mount Forest BIA.
Council passed the resolution with little comment at its May 11 meeting.
The appointments are until Nov. 30, 2010 are for Bill Nelson, Jenny Whetham, Ron Forrest, Murray Townsend, and Wellington North Councillor Dan Yake.
Preferred vendor list
Councillors also adopted a preferred vendor list following a report from Wellington North treasurer John Jeffrey.
His report stated that the township’s purchasing policy requires such a list be prepared periodically and be presented to council and the appropriate committees. The vendors work regularly on township projects and in some cases the firms’ involvement dates back to pre-amalgamation and with the predecessor municipalities.
Jeffrey stressed, “the inclusion of these firms does not give them exclusive access to township work, allowing the township the liberty to engage other firms which might have a specific specialty that is required for a project or to introduce competitive firms to the township. The list of professional consultants includes: AGI Traffic Technology, Alex R. Wilson Surveying Inc., ALS Laboratory Group, B.M. Ross and Associates Limited, Barcon Consulting, BDO Dunwoody LLP, C.N. Watson and Associates Ltd., Deverell Lemaich LLP, Frey Communications, Hollen Controls, Huron Geomatics, K. Smart and Associates, Ontario Clean Water Agency, Ralph Basset Associates Inc., R.J. Burnside, SGS Lakefield Research Limited, and Triton Engineering.
Broomhead said having the list makes it simpler when applying for grants.
