More mayors breakfasts being planned

The first mayor’s breakfast hosted recently by the Wellington North economic development committee in Mount Forest has set the stage for four more breakfasts next year.

Business economic manager Dale Small told the committee on Nov. 21 about 40 people attended the Nov. 15 event.

“Initial indications are this was a successful event and we look forward to hosting additional ones in 2013 as part of our business retention and expansion program,” said Small.

The committee has tentatively scheduled 2013 events for Feb. 21 in Arthur (focusing on agriculture, food, construction, manufacturing and industry), May 16 in Mount Forest (financial services, real estate, insurance, education and professional services), Sept. 19 in Arthur (retail, art and entertainment, recreation and information and culture), and Nov. 21 in Mount Forest (health care and social services).

Invitations, according to Small, will be sent out to different business sectors.

Small expected the format could be the same as the inaugural breakfast with a guest speaker.

“Once we determine the sectors to be included guest speakers will be identified,” he told the committee.

Small said more effort will be directed to getting feedback from participants on the merits of the breakfast.
