Minto to cut paper flow

The Town of Minto plans to reduce the amount of paperwork it’s producing through a new management system.

At its March 3 meeting, council approved a staff recommendation for up to $30,000 in the 2015 capital budget for the first stage of the program. The figure includes about $8,000 to purchase tablet computers for council and department heads, as well as funds for software and other equipment upgrades.

A report from information management coordinator Callise Foerter stated the new system will allow for “paperless” agenda practices and improved record keeping.

Council will need new technology and upgrades to the council chamber  to get the full benefit from the program.

Wellington County has been posting its complete council agenda package online for some time and all other county municipalities use digital systems to varying degrees.
