Meals on Wheels holds AGM with volunteer recognition

President Alieda Murray welcomed 19 volunteers and clients to the Clifford Community Meals on Wheels annual general meeting on Jan. 24 at Jamesway Manor in Clifford.

Murray said she is thankful she can always count on volunteers who become more valuable with each passing year. She is grateful to the dedicated volunteers who delivered 757 meals in 2017. Drivers deliver the meals three times a week and offer transportation to others needing to reach their appointments on time.

Each week, seven clients have their meals prepared three times a week at the Redwood Restaurant by Jim and Marlene Dennie and staff. The drivers deliver the hot nutritious meals at lunch time every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.Anyone who knows someone who could benefit from this service may call 519-327-8899 and leave a message.

When someone needs a ride to an appointment, they can call the number and get a list of volunteers willing to drive them locally or further afield to Owen Sound, Guelph, Kitchener, or London. Destinations and costs are discussed before leaving for the day.

Sheila Dickinson, Frank Dickinson, Eleanore Gerber, and Wes Gerber organized a yard sale last year and have agreed to do another this year. They will be joined by Marion Agla, Lyle Murray, Isabel Senek, and Phyllis Kaufman.

The yard sale will be held June 2 at the John Hobelman Memorial Rotary Pavillion Park.

Organizers are looking for volunteers.  Contact Dickinson at 519-327-3719 to volunteer. Students needing volunteer hours are also welcome.
