McCaughan hired as interim head of public works in Wellington North

Former Erin interim CAO Derek McCaughan has been hired as interim public works director in Wellington North.

“Council and all of staff recognize how vital the director of public works role is to the day-to-day success of operations throughout the township,” CAO Michael Givens stated in an April 13 press release.

“Derek has experience and knowledge that can enhance an already effective and efficient public works team.”

McCaughan was hired as interim CAO in Erin on June 23, 2016 and filled that role until March 10 of this year.

Previously he worked for over 30 years with the City of Guelph, including five years as an executive director in charge of operations, transit and emergency services.

“The public works portfolio involves a significant portion of the township’s services and its effective management is critical to maintaining our infrastructure and safeguarding the cost effective delivery of those key services,” Mayor Andy Lennox stated in a press release.

“We are excited to have Derek join the team as director.”

McCaughan started with Wellington North on April 12.
