Marden bridge closing Aug. 1 for replacement

The Marden bridge on Wellington Road 30 will close for about four weeks on Aug. 1.

Wellington County construction manager Mark Eby said the goal is to reopen the bridge, located between the entrance to Marden Park and the Royal Distributing Athletic Performance Centre (RDAPC), by the September long weekend.

The county has engaged SLR Contracting to complete the bridge replacement.

A detour will be posted using Highway 6 and Wellington Roads 51 and 39.

Signs have already been placed advising drivers of the pending road closure.

The road will not be passable at the culvert.  Emergency services will have to access residents and businesses from the nearest side of the culvert.

Signs will be placed at Wellington Road 39 advising that Mann Construction and the Marden library will be open and accessible and at Highway 6 that the RDAPC is open and accessible.

There is a path walkway between the Marden Park and RDAPC if people want to park on the nearest side and walk to access the other side.
