The ability to safely shower and access a home or community is something most people take for granted.
But for many with disabilities, even the most mundane of daily tasks can be dangerous or even impossible without the proper equipment.
However, that equipment can be expensive and out of reach for people living on limited, fixed incomes.
March of Dimes’ assistive devices program provides financial assistance to people with disabilities across the province toward the cost and maintenance of basic mobility devices and home health care equipment such as manual and motorized wheelchairs, bath aids, seating inserts and wheelchair cushions, canes, crutches and walkers and more.
Every year, close to 1,500 consumers benefit from the program, allowing them greater ease of mobility and freedom.
The program is completely donor-funded and it meant to help offset the cost to consumers for necessary, life-changing equipment.
Funding for is available to residents in the Wellington County area.
