Louise Marshall Hospital gets green light for expansion

North Wellington Health Care has received approval from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) to move ahead with the final stage of planning for the emergency and ambulatory care expansion at the Louise Marshall Hospital (LMH) in Mount Forest.

“LMH staff, physicians, volunteers and consultants, who worked on the Stage 3 floor plan submission, have been eagerly awaiting the MOHLTC approval to continue on in the five-step capital planning process” said Stephen Street, president and CEO of NWHC.

Street explained Stage 4 of the process will involve “developing contracts, finalizing construction-ready plans, completing and issuing tender documentation, and ultimately, awarding construction contracts.

“After approval of Stage 4 we will issue the tender, evaluate and award a contract, and start building.”

Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece said, “I know that hospital officials have worked hard on this proposal, and I’m very pleased the government has acknowledged the need to move this project forward.:

Officials say the LMH emergency and ambulatory care expansion will improve patient access and quality of care as well as infection prevention/control, privacy, accessibility and efficiencies.
