MOUNT FOREST – A large group gathered at the Legion here on Oct. 18 to celebrate individuals, organizations and businesses nominated to receive Chamber of Commerce awards of excellence. 

WELLINGTON COUNTY – The province’s first commercial avian influenza case this year was identified at a poultry operation in northern Wellington County.

KENILWORTH – A grant of $2,100 will help pay for new windows and steel siding at Epoch’s Garage in Kenilworth. 

MOUNT FOREST – The Mount Forest Lions Club, which boasts about 60 members, recently installed a friendship arch on Main Street at the northwest edge of Mount Forest. Last year, past president Crystal Steffler wished to install the friendship arch as her president’s project.

MOUNT FOREST – MacAndrews Pumpkin Farm is stocked and open for business, boasting over 40 varieties of pumpkins, squash and other seasonal goodies.

ARTHUR – Guest speakers Linda Avery, Rob Avery, Ron Tone and Louise Tone visited the Arthur and Area Historical Society at the Arthur Community Centre on Sept. 23 to discuss the Cumnock General Store.

MOUNT FOREST – Bright blue skies, falling autumn leaves and a crowd of community members set the scene for Mount Forest’s second annual Tree of the Year ceremony. 

WELLINGTON NORTH – Emergency crews were called for "an ejected motorcyclist" on Sideroad 3 West, south of Mount Forest, on Oct. 6 at about 5:15pm.
