FERGUS – Richard Wigmore recently led the men’s Team Canada Ball Hockey Team to a silver medal at the world championships. 

FERGUS – Arkells and Dallas Smith are the headliners for Meadows Music Festival in Fergus on May 29 and 30 and in making the announcement on Dec. 16, organizer Collin McKinnon crossed two things off his bucket list.

ELORA – Road salt damages roads, bridges, cars, shoes, pet paws, vegetation and, most importantly, drinking water, Centre Wellington council heard on Dec. 15.

ELORA – The Mayor’s Golf Tournament, held in September, raised almost $25,000 for the Centre Wellington Food Bank.

ELORA – On an otherwise cold and quiet night in Elora last week, St. John’s Anglican Church was filled with warm, layered voices singing sacred choral music that echoed off the building’s 150-year-old walls.

ELORA – Centre Wellington council got bogged down in discussion on Dec. 15 about paid parking in downtown Elora, which comes into effect on Jan. 5.

FERGUS – Fergus Legion Branch 275 has come up with a new way to generate income and serve the community at the same time. And on Jan. 18, Legion officials are holding a grand opening for its newly renovated and rebranded Riverside Events Centre.

FERGUS – Despite the snow and sub-zero temperatures that have come early this year, work on St. David Street North in Fergus is still expected to be completed by Christmas.

BELWOOD – It was a snowy Saturday morning Dec. 6 and the Belwood Community Hall was filled with wide smiles and happy chatter as hundreds of people attended the annual Breakfast with Santa sponsored by the Belwood and District Lions Club.

FERGUS – The Fergus Pipe Band marked the end of parade season with a holiday celebration at the Fergus Legion on Dec. 6.
