FERGUS – Despite the snow and sub-zero temperatures that have come early this year, work on St. David Street North in Fergus is still expected to be completed by Christmas.

BELWOOD – It was a snowy Saturday morning Dec. 6 and the Belwood Community Hall was filled with wide smiles and happy chatter as hundreds of people attended the annual Breakfast with Santa sponsored by the Belwood and District Lions Club.

FERGUS – The Fergus Pipe Band marked the end of parade season with a holiday celebration at the Fergus Legion on Dec. 6.

FERGUS – Parents at St. Joseph Catholic School in Fergus held a Christmas “give” shop on Dec. 4 and 5 at St. Joseph Catholic Church next door.

FERGUS – The Fergus Santa Claus Parade took place on Dec. 6 in downtown Fergus.

ABOYNE – The county’s rural transit program, Ride Well, now offers accessible transportation options for residents across the county and Guelph.

GUELPH – Police say a man responsible for stealing more than $300,000 in products from LCBO stores across the province has been sentenced to five years in prison.

ELORA – Eric Huber does a lot of collecting in his retirement – items he delivers to charities, items for international relief efforts – and pop can tabs he sells to a scrap yard, dividing the cash between the Elora Legion and the Guelph Giants.

ELORA – The township did not receive a provincial grant to help with upgrades to the multi-use pad at Bissell Park, so the contentious issue returned to council on Dec. 2.
