FERGUS – With a new year comes a new baby for the Molinary family of Fergus — the first of the year born at Groves Memorial Community Hospital.

ELORA – Elora and Fergus firefighters responded to a fire call in the alley behind the Elora Brewing Company at 107 Geddes St. at around 4:30am on Jan. 7. 

FERGUS – Ted Arnott might have retired from public life, but the awards for his years of public  service keep rolling in. The former MPP for Wellington-Halton Hills and Speaker of the Ontario Legislature received an award from the Council of State Governments at a conference in Chicago on Dec. 19.

ELORA – The Elora Curling Club is resurrecting a decades-old tradition – and possibly re-sparking a long-standing rivalry between the Fergus and Elora clubs. On Jan. 17, the two clubs will duke it out at the Piss Pot Bonspiel.

CENTRE WELLINGTON - Tim Anderson, left, Arrow Anderson and Laura Carrie were proud on Jan. 3 to finally be skating on the ice rink they built at Beatty Park. “We made this rink for the community to enjoy,” Carrie said.         

ELORA – On Jan. 2, members of the Centre Wellington Children’s Drama Club (CWCDC) had the Elora Gorge as their stage.

CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Rotary Club of Fergus-Elora put on a big party prior to Christmas at the Fergus Legion Branch 275 for children attending Kids Ability programs in Centre Wellington.

ABOYNE – A hill at the Wellington County Museum and Archives was the place to be for tobogganing fun on the morning of Jan. 3.

FERGUS – As every New Year’s Day comes around, the incoming president of the Fergus Legion holds a levee to reminisce about the Legion’s accomplishments in the past year and what the Legion has planned for the next year.
