Local teachers, school board reach tentative deal

The Upper Grand District School Board has reached a tentative agreement with local secondary school teachers.

The deal, signed on Nov. 17 at 5am, must still be approved by the Minister of Education and ratified by trustees and local members of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF).

A press release from the school board stated secondary teachers were advised by union officials to suspend sanctions that began a week ago.

The release also noted the board is continuing to negotiate with other local bargaining units:

the  Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario (ETFO) representing elementary teachers and occasional elementary teachers;
 OSSTF occasional teachers;
OSSTF support staff (educational assistants, early childhood educators, office/clerical/technical, speech and language, child and youth workers, and social workers);
Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) representing custodial workers.

Work-to-rule sanctions by OSSTF support staff are ongoing.
