Local nurse heads to China on medical mission

Local nurse Dorothy McEachern is looking for support to help her  continue her volunteer work with Education, Medical Aid and Service (EMAS) Canada, a Christian charitable organization.

Based in Canada and Hong Kong, EMAS partners with organizations overseas to perform surgeries for cleft lip, palates and burns to people who cannot afford medical care.

Her most recent trip to China included assisting the EMAS team in grafting the skin of a young girl severely burned by falling into the open fire used to prepare the family dinner.

As McEachern prepares for her next journey to China on May 18, she is asking for community support to cover her expenses.

Donations can be made  in McEachern’s name online at www.emascanada.org or by mail to EMAS Canada, 3967 Stouffville Road, P.O Box 820 Stn Main, Stouffville, ON L4A 7Z9. Donations over $20 will be issued a tax receipt.

For more information contact McEachern at dot360@mac.com.
