Centre Wellington fire fighters helped rescue two stranded kayakers from an island in the Luther Marsh last week.

Fergus and Elora stations were called during a strong storm at around 9pm on Sept. 10 to assist with a “boat rescue” at the Luther Marsh.

At about 12am the Fergus station boat “found two lost kayakers on a small island,” fire chief Brad Patton reported on Twitter on Sept. 11.

Patton, who said the boaters’ emergency whistle helped firefighters locate them, added on Twitter, “Great work done by both [fire stations].”
