Local cadet chosen for international exchange

Warrant Officer 1 Mark Keir, after going through the application and interview process, has been accepted for the Belgium exchange this coming summer.

The exchange program is offered through the International Air Cadet Exchange Association and a total of 19 countries are involved.

In the past, 242 Ross Ferguson Squadron has had cadets apply for a chance to be involved with this opportunity but Keir is the first to succeed.

He will travel to Belgium this summer for a two weeks and his trip will bring him to Bruges. He will then have a guided tour of the Region of Ypres to visit Passchendaele and Tyne Cot Cemetery where he will attend the Last Post.

The final highlight, before returning home to Erin, will be a guided visit of the F-16 base in Kleine Brogel.

This opportunity is a once in a lifetime adventure and adds to his past summer experiences through the summer training programs offered through Air Cadets. Each summer Keir has applied for and accepted various training experiences which have inspired him to pursue a career in the aviation field following high school.

The 242 Ross Ferguson Squadron is very proud of Keir and all of his accomplishments and wish him all the best in his future.
