Grateful grandmothers

Dear Editor:
The Grandmothers of the Grand of Fergus/Elora wish to thank our many supporters of our “Bridge to Africa” event at the Elora Legion, Branch 229, on Nov. 16.
In spite of a wintery day, our friends came and enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by Zehrs, Fraeberts, The Goofie Newfie, The Gorge Restaurant, Fountainhead, Elora Brewing Company Restaurant, Wreckless Eric’s, L&M Market, Dahr’s Country Market, and E&G Bakery.
They then enjoyed an afternoon of bridge, euchre or a game of their choice. They also had the pleasure of choosing a door prize from the many donations provided by Hanscomb Glass, Dixon’s Home Hardware, The Scottish Shop, Grand Gourmet, Grand Bark, Shopper’s Drug Mart, Elora, and Unwind.
Silent auction items came from Wildwinds Golf Links and from some of the Grandmothers.
Special thanks to our corporate sponsors; Reliable Motors, Ostic Insurance, Elora Optometry, Resa Lent, and Centre Wellington Dental.
The proceeds of this event go to the Stephen Lewis Foundation that supports grandmothers and their orphaned grandchildren in 15 sub-Saharan African countries as a result of the HIV/AIDs epidemic.
