This thank you letter has been a long time coming but for us the emotions have been too raw and our journey is not over yet. As most of you know our dairy barn burnt down on Sept 2nd and we are currently rebuilding. This has been the hardest thing we have ever gone through. When something like this happens it’s amazing how fast you lose your identity. We were no longer Scott & Katrina, we were the people that had the barn fire. We are looking forward to putting all of this behind us and just being ourselves once again. There have been a lot of tears during this process. For the first couple days they are from the loss of the barn and all it represented but after that they were because of the unbelievable generosity shown to us. Now if you bare with me there are a lot of people we need to thank. Thank you to our families for supporting us through this troubled time, fire fighters, police, friends & neighbours that were there the day of the fire. Thank you to everyone who helped round up cattle and the truckers that moved them up the road. Thank you to the Matthews, McDougall, Stokman and Donkers families for the use of their barns. To those that helped clean the barns, trucked hay & straw, offer hay or straw, donated food and offered their thoughts & prayers. Thank you to Jim McFarlane for organizing our clean up day and the 50 people/companies that brought food, tables, machinery and their helping hands. Thank you to our benefit organisers, the lions club, Guelph/Eramosa twp and everyone who donated be it through their time, talents or money. It was an amazing evening. Thank you to the churchs, Rockwood & Puslinch mens fastball, Rockwood soccer, the Fergus curling club and farm organisations that have helped us along the way. And thank you to Orval Martin Construction and all the contractors that didn’t have time but made time to build my new barn. The milking herd will return home in April with the rest of the herd hopefully following in May. Thank you to the Wellington Advertiser and all its reader for all their support as well. We look forward to this new chapter of our lives.
Sincerely
Scott & Katrina Gordon
