Of all incumbents I have not met one during this campaign. If I had the question I would have asked whether you can truly make hard decisions and how you have. The past 3 councils have not made truly hard decisions. When pushed to the wall easier roads have been taken.

The prime examples have been our budgets. There was little control over spending. Although not frivolous, truly hard decisions have not been made and the easier road to increase budgets was taken. Some even suggested the budget process was nickel and diming items. Obviously they did not think nickels and dimes are worth much.

Hard decisions are certainly possible. Look to Halton Hills county where the past 7 years have had 0% increases. There are other examples out there if council would look and learn.

For the new council please understand your constituents and determine whether such spending is sustainable. A look at job advertisements would provide an idea of incomes in the area. From this truly hard decisions must be made for the new council. Hopefully, these decisions are closer to reality.
